In its women manifesto titled ‘Priyadarshini’, NSUI listed the issues like female health consultants in all colleges, deployment of female constables at bus stop and outside evening colleges, standard hostel timings for girls and boys, and facilitation of sanitary napkins in every college at subsidised rates.

A Spokesperson of NSUI said that we will also start a programme ‘Big sister’ in all the colleges of the university where all senior students who enroll for the programme ‘Big Sister’, will be allotted a fresher student who they will mentor and guide throughout their college period.

He added that at a time when  Rio Olympic medals have been won by women of the country, university administration constantly discouraged the girls for being involved in sports. We will take several steps and initiatives to improve this situation.

The most keenly contested students’ polls in the country, the election of office bearers of Members of Central Council and DUSU will be held on 9th September 2016.

Last year, BJP-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won the DUSU polls by trouncing NSUI and AAP’s Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) to bag all four positions — president, vice president, secretary and joint secretary.
