On Saturday morning, Central Bureau of Investigation conducted raids at properties including the residences owned by the former Chief minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda, UPSC member Chattar Singh and former Principal Secretary to the Chief minister M L Tayal in connection with the release of the land at Manesar, Gurugram(former Gurgaon).
According to the sources that CBI conducted raids at 20 locations including Panchkula, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rohtak and Gugugram. Raid is also in progress at Panchkula residence of Hooda. Raid is also being conducted at the residence of Spokesperson of Congress Ran Singh Mann who is also a close aide of Hooda.

During the part tenure of both Congress Bhupinder Singh Hooda and INLD’s Om Prakash Chautala, the land located in three villages Lakhnoula, Naurangpur and Manesar was allotted between 2004 and 2007.
The land acquisition process had started in the month of August 2004 by Om Prakash Chautala-led INLD government which wanted to set up an Industrial Model Town (IMT) in the name of former deputy Prime Minister of India Devi Lal.
On 17th September 2015, CBI had registered the case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against unknown private persons and unknown public servants of Haryana Government.
CBI took over the investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 registered at Manesar Police Station, Gurgaon district, Haryana. On the allegations under which the case registered that the private builders in nexus with unknown public servants of Haryana Government had purchased at least 400 acres of land from the land owners and farmers of village Lakhnoula, Naurangpur, and Manesar, Gurgaon district at throw away prices, under the threat of acquisition by the Government, during the period between 27th August 2004 and 24th August 2007.
The land measuring about 400 acres, the market value at that time was above Rs. 4 crore per acre (approx) amounting to about Rs. 1,600 crores (approx). 400 acres was allegedly purchased by the private builders and others from the innocent land owners for just Rs. 100 crores (approx).
CBI said that a loss of Rs. 1500 crore (approx) to the land owners of Lakhnoula, Naurangpur, and Manesar, district gurgram was caused.
In September 2015, CBI had taken over the probe into releasing the land acquired by various agencies including Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) during the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government in the state.
