On Tuesday, Malaysian police arrested five people after a group of protesters attacked the SriLankan ambassador at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia.
The authority of Malaysia said that the attack on Ambassador(High Commissioner) Ibrahim Sahib Ansar left him with minor injuries. Ansar have so far given no details on the identities or background of the attackers.
Police chief of Selangor state – Abdul Samah Mat told AFP that 5 people have been arrested and we are investigating the motive behind the attack.
Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka – Esala Weerakoon summoned top envoy of Malaysia in Colombo – Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah and demanded adequate security for diplomatic mission of Colombo.
The foreign ministry expressed disappointment that the Malaysian authorities had failed to provide necessary security and protection despite warnings of a possible threat.
A local media reported that last week, around 100 ethnic Indian protesters had gathered in Kuala Lumpur to rally against former President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapakse who was attending an international conference here.
In the year of 2009, Rajapakse ordered the bloody military assault which ended war with Tamil separatist guerrillas in Srilanka.
International rights groups have said that around 40,000 civilians may have been killed in the final offensive, but Colombo denied the charge.
During the protests in Malaysia, in the almost 30 years long civil war, sympathisers of the Tamil victims burnt an effigy of Rajapakse.
Malaysian Police have warned local ethnics Indian groups not to show support for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) themselves.

National Police Chief – Khalid Abu Bakar said that I want to warn these groups which support the LTTE which is banned by the United Nations.
More than two million out of 31 million people of multi-ethnic of Malaysia are ethnic Indians.
Most are descendants of labourers brought from ethnic Tamil areas of southern India by the former British colonial masters of Malaysia.
