Srinagar: For the first time in the Kashmir valley, Security forces have imposed a curfew in all 10 districts of the Kashmir Valley on Eid. The helicopters and drones have been pressed into service for surveillance in the valley.
Despite the strict curfew, protests erupted after Eid prayers across the Kashmir valley.
A violent protest erupted in Bandipora post the namaz, prompting the security forces to fire smoke shells. A youth was killed in the action.
Fresh clashes were also reported from Sopore area in which one woman was critically injured.
As per the reports that people defied the curfew and staged pro-Azadi protests at different places in the valley. Protesters turned violent and clashed with the security forces.
All the roads leading to the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan(UNMOGIP) office at Sonawar has been sealed to stop the Azadi March sponsored by separatists to submit a memorandum to the UN on the eve of the UN general assembly session.
Meanwhile, the Poonch operation entered into its third day on Tuesday.
4 militants and one security personnel have been killed while 6 people, including three army troops, have been injured in the encounter which started on Sunday. Security forces suspect that more than 2 militants may still be hide inside the under-construction Mini Secretariat complex.
