The medals are raining for India in the Rio Paralympics 2016, as till now India has claimed 4 medals. The latest athlete to join the list is Devendra Jhajharia, who set the own world record to win gold in the men’s javelin throw F46 at Rio Paralympics.
Devendra claimed the Gold medal with the attempt of 63.97 metres. And, this gold medal is only the second for India in the Paralympics. Meanwhile, Devendra was not alone to play this event.
The 36-year-old Devendra has added the fourth medal to the overall tally of medals for India. India has claimed two Gold medal, one silver and one Bronze medal, which is far better than the record tally of previous Rio Olympics record, where India only managed to win 2 medals from 119 athletes.

Devendra Jhajharia has been the proud son of India and he has turned his incomplete life into extraordinary. Devendra is the only Paralympics athlete to be awarded the Arjuna award in 2004 and the Padma Shri in 2012.
Devendra lost his left hand at the tender age of 8 when he falls down from the tree. But, his determination never stopped him from achieving his dream and now, he grabbed a gold medal at Paralympics which many normal athletes failed to do.

Meanwhile, Devendra participated in the javelin throw F46 event with his two fellow countrymen Rinku Hooda and Sundar Singh Gurjar. Rinku stood fifth and Sundar did do not start the tournament.
