They reported that ‘on iTunes, podcasts branded ‘Spoken Edition’ will be short-form programs that offer listeners an audio version of the written content of publisher. That means you could ‘read’ your favorite news or hear the news when you’re doing other things — like commuting to work, working out at the gym or walking your dog, for example.

A possibility of such a feature was confirmed when TechCrunch spotted ‘Spoken Editions’ of major publications such as Playboy, Forbes, Mic, Time, Wired, among others. These are apparently powered by a service called ‘SpokenLayer’ which essentially distributes and creates audio versions of the written word.

iTunes latest update is expected to be released in the month of October this year.
