New Delhi: In the wake of heavy rush in the Bank and very long queue of people in the front of ATMs, on Monday, once again the Government of India announced that demonetised notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 can be used until 24th November for certain transactions.
Economic Affairs Secretary – Shaktikanta Das said that Exemption on old series of Rs 500, 1000 notes for certain categories extended till midnight of 24th November 2016.
The time limit to use old notes for paying fees, taxes, fuel, and household utility bills as well as purchases from co-operative stores was set to expire on 14th November, but in a huge relief, the government has extended the deadline by ten more days.
The Central government had allowed use of the old currency at petrol pumps, crematoria, milk booths, public transport, airline ticketing at airports, railway ticketing, and government hospitals.
