ISRO is all set to Launch 83 Satellites via PSLV-C37 in Jan 2017

ISRO is all set to take another record launching 83 satellites at a go on its workhorse PSLV-C37 in the month of January 2017. Earlier in the month of June 2016, ISRO already set a record in space program successfully launching 20 satellites including the Cartosat-2 Series.

ISRO said that this record will take place in the end of the month of January 2017. 80 of the satellites belong to other countries like Israel, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Switzerland as well as the US. The weight of the satellites is around 500 kg.

The Chairman of ISRO – AS Kiran Kumar told reporters that we are working for a January launch. It will be toward the end of January. The date has to be fixed.
He said that 2016 was a ‘good year’ and ISRO will launch five communication satellites in the coming year. He said that we are primarily trying to do our GSLV Mark III, then Mark II… one more launch we are trying to do.

The first quarter will see three launches while ISRO aims to launch one satellite a month in the next year. He said that this on the sidelines of the 21st convocation – National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS).

ISRO is testing for avoiding hazards for the safe landing of Chandrayaan 2.  He said that ISRO is verifying the performance of the system as designed. ISRO is are evaluating the performance of the system.
