Two New Guinness World Records Set By India With Yoga Event At Rajpath In Delhi

India created two world records on International Yoga Day with the yoga performance at Rajpath led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The record for largest yoga class, with 35,985 people, and the record for most nationalities participating in a single yoga event — 84, performing yoga at one place. But the organizers will have to wait for more than a year for an entry in the Guinness book.

The announcement was made at the headquarters of United Nations, where foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has participated in the first IYD (International Yoga Day) at the UN.

Swaraj has represented India there and thanked 192 member states who have passed the resolution proclaiming June 21 as IYD.

21 June 2015 is declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. Yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice having its origin over 6000 years ago in India, aims to integrate the body and the mind.

The declaration of this day came after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga by PM Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014. Yoga is special gift of India, which keeps mind and body fresh. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness within yourself, the world and the nature.
