Almost all the CEOs and tech professionals of the tech giants companies started the fight with the newly elected Trump administration and its infamous immigration policies. The Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg is one of them.
In against the immigration policies, Zuckerberg updated the ‘Founder’s Letter’ of Facebook for the first time since the company went public in 2012. More a company mission statement than an out and out political stand, this letter comes at an important time in the politics of Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley employs a large number of immigrants, and the administration’s policies on immigrants is likely to directly affect them.
Zuckerberg said that it celebrates the idea of globalisation and the role of Facebook in it. The most important thing we can do at Facebook is develop the social infrastructure to give people the power to build a global community that works for all of us.
Further, Zuckerberg, slotting the ambition of the Facebook into five neat heads, claims to want to build safe, informed, civically-engaged, supportive, and inclusive communities that will build the long term social infrastructure to bring humanity together.
Telling about the Artificial Intelligence(AI), Zuckerberg claimed that they are researching systems which can look at photos and videos to tell the difference between news stories about terrorism and actual terrorist propaganda so we can quickly remove anyone trying to use our services to recruit for a terrorist organization.
He further said that one of our greatest opportunities to keep people safe is building artificial intelligence to understand more quickly and accurately what is happening across our community.
As per the reports that Facebook had 1.86 billion active users in the last quarter 2016. He said that the monthly active users on Facebook is greater than the population of China (1.3 billion). China is a country in which Facebook is banned.
It is a very good positive step that Mark Zuckerberg is cognizant of the power he wields.
