IPL 2018: MS Dhoni return for Chennai Super Kings clears by Governing Council

The captain of the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni is can mark his comeback on the Indian Premier League, since he is part of the IPL. The IPL edition of 2018 will be owned by the India Cements anyway.

MS Dhoni is the former India skipper, will mark his comeback on the Chennai Super Kings franchise for the 2018 Indian Premier League. This is done by the IPL Governing Council who cleared the path for his return.

“An IPL Franchise is appropriate and suitable in order to secure up to 5 cricket players by virtue of a combination of Player Retention (Pre Player Auction) and Right to Match (RTM) (During the Player Auction),” BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary said in a statement regarding MS Dhoni’s comeback on the IPL franchisee.

“The player pool is anyway available for the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings for their retention/Right to Match where all players’ who played for them respectively in IPL 2015 and were part of the Gujarat Lions and RPS squads in IPL 2017”, he added on his statement.

As per the various reports, the IPL Governing Council is all set to increase the payment budget of this upcoming IPL franchises from Rs 66 crore to Rs 80 crore for the auction of 2018.

This is the auction is tentatively set for February. “The minimum spend will be 75 percent of the salary cap for each season,” the BCCI said.

The all players ruled for the Right to Match are the maximum number of three Capped Indian players, the maximum number of 2 overseas players, the maximum number of 2 uncapped Indian players.

The Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings were banned for consecutively 2 seasons of the previous Indian Premier League afterward some of the team owners were alleged by the Supreme Court for corruption.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India on July 2017, and on Friday that the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings will be back for 2018 IPL.

MS Dhoni has been associated with Chennai Super Kings from the starting of the Indian Premier League. From 2008 till 2015, he led the 2 IPL titles in 2010 and 2011.

Anyway, MS Dhoni entered the final of the tournament four times in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2015 at the IPL seasons.

Under MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings won the Champions League Twenty20 twice in 2010 and 2014 right before the scrapping of the tournament.

This marks the suspension of the franchise for 2 consecutive years, in 2016, MS Dhoni captained the Rising Pune Supergiant in the Indian Premier League, he was also part of the squad that entered the final in the earlier edition.

IPL 2018 Auctions and Retain Players List

In 2018 the player auctions edition of the tournament is all set held in February. The Indian Premier League (IPL), in the month of September, the media rights were auctioned which proved to be a windfall for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

This time the STAR India bagged rights for a 5 years period for Rs 16,347.50 crore globally.
