Bharti Singh who is the wife of Union Minister of State for External Affairs General V K Singh, has claimed that she is being blackmailed.
Bharti Singh registered a case of extortion against a man. A man was trying to blackmail her with the help of doctored audio and video recordings. The case of extortion has been filed at the Tughlaq Road police station in New Delhi.
The Delhi police have started an investigation in the case. In her complaint, Bharti Singh said that the man, Pradeep Chauhan, threatened to make the recordings public unless she paid him Rs 2 crore. Bharti Singh claimed that she was unaware of the content of the clips.
According to the police sources that the victim approached them on 12th August and the case was registered the following day.
The officer said that Bharti Singh has alleged that Pradeep Chauhan, who is a friend of her nephew, started calling her in odd hours and threatening her of dire consequences if she would not give him Rs 2 crore.
The officer said that She also alleged that on 6th August, Chauhan posted some video on YouTube. Chauhan has a licensed revolver and has threatened her family with dire consequences.
General V K Singh retired as the chief of the Indian Army in 2012. He joined the BJP. He won the Lok Sabha election from Ghaziabad. General V K Singh was inducted into the Modi Government. Currently, General V K Singh serves as one of two MoS in the External Affairs ministry.
