AAP MLA Kartar Singh hid unaccounted for assets worth Rs 130 crore

NEW DELHI: Last night, A legislator of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Kartar Singh Tanwar allegedly hid Rs 130 crore worth assets that he can’t account for.

The AAP MLA is a property dealer. On 27th July, the Income Tax department carried out a search and seizure operation on three premises of the Chhatarpur MLA and his associates.

Officials of Income Tax said that they were acting on specific information about tax evasion and money laundering in the property deals of Tanwar.

The members of Aam Aadmi Party said that Central Government is involved in a witch-hunt against the party members and the party. Since the AAP  Party won the Assembly election of Delhi in February last year, around a dozen of AAP MLAs have been arrested or are facing charges in various cases.

Arjun Ram Meghwal who is the Union Minister of State for Finance told PTI that any lawmaker doing illegal things will have to face legal scrutiny.

Meghwal added that This government does not work with vendetta.

AAP MLA Tanwar owns farmhouses and several properties in Delhi Tanwar declared total assets of Rs 17 crore in his affidavit filed during the assembly elections of Delhi in February 2015. His IT Return for 2013-14 showed that he had an annual income of Rs 12.65 lakh.
A BJP source told TOI last month that Tanwar was a BJP councillor in 2007 and 2012. He is a property dealer and sells plots in the Chhatarpur and Bhati area. Tanwar is very well known in the area.
