Arun Lal, former Indian cricketer and cricket commentator, is recovering after under going treatment for a rare and dangerous jaw cancer.
The cancer was detected in January 2016 following which Arun Lal underwent a fourteen-hour surgery and replacement of jaw. He told that It’s a rare and dangerous cancer. The symptoms were detected in time (in January) before I went through a rigorous treatment process. Thank God, I have been able to hold my place.
An Indian domestic cricket stalwart, Jagdishlal Arun Lal, played 16 Tests and 13 ODIs for India. He was the man behind Bengal and East Zone’s rise in domestic cricket during the eighties and the early nineties.
Yuvraj Singh was quoted as saying that I know what it feels like because I have been through this. It’s nice if you can share someone’s pain and help him overcome it. I always try to understand the mindset of the patient because it mentally defeats you.
Yuvraj Singh also successfully battled lungs cancer in 2011.
The former Indian Cricketer Arun Lal played in 16 Tests and 13 ODIs for India during a two-decade long cricket career. He Scored two half-centuries after replacing Sunil Gavaskar in the Kolkata Test against Pakistan in 1987, a high score of 93 at the same venue against West Indies. He scored an unbeaten fifty in the 1989-90 Ranji final to help Bengal win the title. These are few of the highlights from his cricketing career.
Arun Lal expects to be back in the commentatry box once again within two months time.
