Amphibious Bus Service To Get Started In Mumbai :- The Maharashtra government has taken an initiative to promote the tourism in the Mumbai. The government will be keen to start the amphibious bus service to let the tourist get the experience of floating bus in the rivers of the Mumbai.
The amphibious bus will also roll his tyre on the road and will also float in the went and hence, they are called duck boats. These boats will enable the tourist to get the experience of the rich hinterland of the town.
Meanwhile, the amphibious bus will be launched as the part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed recently between Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).
Mumbai is not the only state to start the service of the amphibious bus, as Goa government also started the initiative with the same service to attract further tourists.
Satish Soni, MTDC’s Joint Managing Director, said ” Such type of buses were in use in Amby Valley located near Lonavala. I have myself traveled in it a year back. But the new amphibious bus service will be the first time that MTDC is foraying in to attract tourists.”
Soni further added that these buses would be own by the JNPT and MTDC. Although, Soni also included that the service for these buses will only be started when the officials will be able to construct the jetty and a floating ramp, for making these vehicles come out of the sea and lake.
Soni also informed that ” the jetty will take around Rs 3 crore for its construction and the proposal is in line as it will only be get started after getting the permission from the Maharashtra Coastal Regulatory Authority.
