The tennis champion star player Andy Murray along with Germany’s Angelique Kerber has achieved another feather in their glorious cap as the duo has been names as the named ITF World Champions on Tuesday. With this title, both Andy and Angelique has become the stellar capping years for the men’s and women’s world number ones.
Andy Murray has the outstanding year with winning the Wimbledon in July before becoming the first player to win two Olympic singles gold medals after retaining the crown in in Rio de Janeiro in August.
The 29-year-old star tennis player has seen a serious amount of success in this year as the crowned with nine titles in a milestone year and also beating the beating rival Novak Djokovic to win the ATP Tour Finals. The hard work of Murray has been rewarded with the top ranking on Tuesday and in interaction with media wing, he shared his joy as he said “It means a lot to me to be named ITF World Champion. I have had such a memorable year.”
On the other side, Kerber in the women’s tennis champions has seen tremendous success with claiming Olympic silver medal in Rio along with winning the Australian and U.S. Open titles.
Winning this award means a lot to the career of Kerber as she becomes the first German to win the award since Steffi Graf claimed the last of her seven in 1996.
