The India is scheduled to take New Zealand for the first Test match on September 22, 2016.But, New Zeland team has witnessed a set back as their spreadhead Tim Southee has been ruled out of the India Test series due to injury.
The 27-year-old New Zealand fast bowler sustained an ankle injury and was finding it difficult to bowl in the nets due to pain. Later, scans were done, and it showed that Southee has a ligament strain in his left ankle. Southee will now return to the New Zeland for the rehabilitation process.
Mike Hesson, the coach of New Zeland team, informed media wing about this incident as he told.” Tim has been working hard in preparation for this tour, so he’s understandably very disappointed to be ruled out of all three Tests,”
Hesson further added that ” Southee is suggested for ten days bed rest and after that, he will start bowling slow in the nets to prepare himself for the One-Day series against India.”
It is a big blow for the Kiwis, but Southee will be replaced by another fast bowler Matt Henry, who has played just three Test matches for New Zealand since his debut against England in 2015.
Although the 24-year-old Mat Henry is talented, the New Zeland team will miss the services of Tim Southee who is most experienced bowlers with 52 test matches.
And, at some point, the Indian supporters will be feeling bit relief as Southee has the experience of bowling in India as he is part of IPL from last 3 years.
