Apollo 8 Astronaut Bill Anders Said, “Human Missions to Mars is ridiculous”

You all should know that the world is quite curious about the Human Missions to Mars. Even the Indian Prime Minster indicated that they are going to send the first manned mission to Mars to work on this filed. Now, the reports are coming that the Apollo Astronaut has indicated that the Men mission to mars aren’t required at all. Bill Anders, one of the first men to orbit the Moon has that it is “stupid” to plan human missions to Mars.

Sending astronauts to Mars would be stupid, astronaut says

Reports are coming that he was so sure about his statement and speaking to the BBC Radio 5 Live, Anders, lunar module pilot of Apollo 8 said that sending crews to Mars was “almost ridiculous”. Anders comment came as Nasa prepares new human missions to the Moon. It also wants to learn the skills and develop the technology to enable a future human landing on Mars. Overall, we don’t think that it is going to work out good for him because his statement wasn’t supportive.

Some people are saying that he wasn’t happy and he said he is a “big supporter” of the “remarkable” unmanned programmes, “mainly because they’re much cheaper”. He also said that there is no heavy need to send the manned mission to the mars. He added the public support simply was not there to fund vastly more expensive human missions. He said that he wanted to see things happening in the real ground and there is no profit in sending the manned mission to the space.

Also, he was quite in a favour of robotic missions as they are able to do what a man can do then why need a man? You all should know that In November, the InSight lander, which would sample the planet’s interior, successfully touched down at Elysium Planitia. In December 1968, Anders, along with crewmates Frank Borman and Jim Lovell, lifted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida atop a Saturn V, before completing 10 orbits around the Moon.
