Apple to release Trio of 5G iPhones Next Year

After leaving the next-generation wireless technology out of iPhone 11 lineup that was launched this year, Apple seems to launch its 5G iPhones.

The Cupertino, California, company aims to ship at least 80 million of the 5G iPhone models as well as “has set an aggressive sales target” in order to try to overtake Huawei as the second biggest phone maker in the world, according to the Japanese outlet. The embattled Chinese company also surpassed Apple in the year 2018.

Next year in 2020, Apple is likely to launch three 5G-enabled iPhone models. The target of the iPhone maker is also to ship at least 80 million of the new 5G iPhone models in a bid to surpass embattled Chinese tech giant Huawei, as per to the CNET reports.

The claimed 5G iPhone models are also said to use Qualcomm’s X55 modem chips. Previously, it has guessed that Apple is going to have its own modem chips for its iPhone lineup in the year 2021.

The three iPhones is apparently going to use Qualcomm’s X55 modem chips, after the two companies settled a two-year clash over patent licensing back in the month of April.

Over the summer, a report has also suggested that Apple is also going to have its own modem chips that are accessible for its 2021 iPhones, after it snapped up Intel’s modem business in a $1 billion agreement.

In the meantime, no one has immediately responded to requests for comment, not even Apple nor Qualcomm.
