This Monday brought a sad news as the author, Eminent artist and art historian Dr. Dinanath Pathi left us all and passed away at the age of the 74. It is believed that he was suffering from the cardiac arrest.
Dr. Dinnathat Pathi was considered to be one of the legendary pioneers of the Contemporary Art Movement in Odisha. He was born in Digapahandi village of Ganjam district in Southern Odisha.
The achievement of this man is hidden from the world. He began his career with pursuing a degree in art from the Khallikote College. Later on, he went for the Ph.D. in history and also, become the teacher of the painting in Kendriya Vidyalaya of Bhuvneshwar, between the time period of 1967 to 1972.
This man then becomes the founder of first art college ‘Chitram’ at Bhubaneswar and then, he also became the founder of the Government BK College of Art and Crafts, in Bhubaneswar, till 1996.
But, the biggest achievement of his life came in 1994 when, he has announced the secretary of the National Academy of Art, New Delhi.
Dr. Pathi was one of the most talented painter around the world as his work was shown in the galleries and museums of a different part of the countries like in art galleries and museums in India,Egypt, China, Indonesia, Japan, England, Europe, and Malaysia.
Dr. Pathi also wrote around 100 books on Odisha art and culture. A new feather was added to his achievements when he was awarded the lifetime achievement award for his contribution the association with Museum Reitberg in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2014.
Well, now he left on, but his legacy will always live on, especially in the arts of the people of the Odisha.
