Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Former Prime Minister , who is not well for such a long, on Monday, was admitted to AIIMS, sparking concern which saw PM Narendra Modi alongside various others rushing to the institute.
Since 2009, Vajpayee, has been bed-ridden, has been suffering with the kidney- related issues and lower respiratory tract infection.
In a late night statement, AIIMS told about the former PM has been “diagnosed with a urinary tract infection” for which suitable treatment is being given and a team of doctors are closely monitoring him.
. Sources in AIIMS, said that the condition of BJP stalwart as “critical”, with his sole kidney and lung performing in the lowest capacity.
Though, the chairperson of AIIMS’, Aarti Vij, media and protocol division, told that, “The former Prime Minister has been admitted for examination and management.
He is stable.” There was a risk of health emergency developing, sources said.
The 93-year-old leader will be under Randeep Guleria, the supervision of AIIMS director, who has been treating him for almost 15 years.
Vajpayee, is also diabetic and has only one functional kidney, in 2009, he also suffered a stroke, which affected his cognitive abilities. Eventually, he developed dementia.
The three-time former PM, the last between 1999 and 2004, had been now a day mostly stays in his residence on Krishna Menon Marg where a team of doctors, nurses and physiotherapists are looking after him for 24×7.
He was admitted to the hospital at around 11.30 am. at the same time, this was declared that Atal Bihari Vajpayee, went in the hospital for the routine checkup.
But things got changed when this has been reported that the BJP chief Amit Shah and the Congress president Rahul Gandhi visiting Atal Bihari Vajpayee at AIIMS.
PM Modi also reached the hospital where he spent around 50 minutes in the cardio-neuro centre talking to doctors and Vajpayee’s family.
L K Advani, the BJP veteran, and J P Nadda, the Union health minister were among those who visited, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at the hospital.
