Baghjan oil well is still burning in the Tinsukia district of Assam for five months. All methods of extinguishing the fire have been failed by Oil India Limited (OIL). Sometimes the fires come in “Under control” but unfortunately, it raised again. Some protestor is protesting against this incident and also some political outrage are spreading. Raging fire photos has been the buzz on social media and covering. The fire has caused many environmental areas, wildlife century, and huge losses to property in the habitation.
Committee of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has reported that the Baghjan Oil Well and 26 others were operating illegally in Assam. The NGT is under control by Supreme Court Judge Justice AK Goel. After this hilarious incident, NGT had set up a committee to look into the Baghjpan fire incident and the committee is under former judge BP Katakey. The committee has found that Oil wells did not have a mandatory environment clearance license.
As per the reports, The fire has been taken place on 27 May this year and three people died because of this accident. The incident site is located next to the Dibru Saikhowa National Park in the Tinsukia district. It has been over 160 days since the incident date. Some people said that the explosion happened on the date of June 9 in Baghjpan Oil and it is the longest fire in India still.
Many locals are complaining about the initial handling of the fire in Oilwell. The Oil company hired some experts to extinguish the fire but no success. But, ONGC and OIL teams jointly attempted to reduce the fire. Later, Alert Disaster Control belongs to Singapore, joined the team to control the damage to the well and environment.
All efforts are trying on the fire but not getting any success yet and this is causing harm to the environment which is not good for that.
