Banks will remain closed for 3 days in major cities and states of India

The Banks in India such as SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and PNB are going to be closed for three days in some parts of the country including sub-urban areas of New Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Good news for the general public is that, the three-day holiday is not in continuation.

Here’re the Cities Where Banks Will Be Closed For 3 Days This Week

Banks are closed on 21 November 2018, Wednesday on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi which is a national holiday in India due to which banks are also closed on Wednesday. In addition there will be Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and Guru Nanak Jayanti on 23rd November 2018 on Friday which is also a national holiday in India.

However, banks will be opened for public on Thursday, 22nd November 2018 but again on 24th November 2018, Saturday there will be a bank holiday on the account of 4th Saturday of the November month.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, the banks are closed on second and fourth Saturday of every month in India. 4th Saturday is considered to be a nationwide bank holiday in India and this month the 4th Saturday is observed on 24th November 2018.

According to the recent reports, the banks will be closed for three days that is on 21st November 2018 (Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi), 23rd November 2018 (Guru Nanak Jayanti) and 24th November 2018 (fourth Saturday/ Bank holiday) in the following states and cities of the country:

  • New Delhi,
  • Dehradun,
  • Mumbai,
  • Jammu,
  • Srinagar,
  • Raipur,
  • Ranchi,
  • Kanpur,
  • Hyderabad and
  • Lucknow.

According to another reports, in the state capitals of the country, banks are going to be closed for two days, that is Wednesday, 21 November (Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi) and Saturday, 24 November (fourth Saturday/ Bank holiday). These are the following state capitals, where banks will be closed for two days, Wednesday and Saturday:

  • Ahmedabad (Gujarat),
  • Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh),
  • Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and
  • Bengaluru (Karnataka).

Meanwhile in some of the capital cities, the banks are closed for 2 days that is on 23rd November 2018 (Guru Nanak Jayanti) and 24th November 2018 (fourth Saturday/ Bank holiday ). These are the following capital cities where the banks will be closed for 2 days, Friday and Saturday:

  • Chandigarh,
  • Jaipur,
  • Kolkata,
  • Guwahati,
  • Shillong and
  • Shimla.

In the state of Kerala, the national holiday for Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi was marked on 20th November 2018 and the following holiday will be on 24th November 2018 (fourth Saturday/ Bank holiday).

However, on the further reports there will be only holiday observed of the banks in cities such as Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Aizawl, Patna, Gangtok, Imphal and Goa on 24th November 2018, on account of fourth Saturday.
