Well, you all may know that Lok Sabha polls are about to come in few months and all the political parties are ready with their game plane to attract attention. In a movie to break the BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh, the UP government will unleash a ‘Brahmastra’ (master stroke) by categorizing 82 OBCs into three segments. Reports are confirming that these three segments will get due share of 27% reservation stipulated by the Mandal Commission.

Also, the Rajbhar, who heads Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), an ally of BJP, said the move would destroy the nascent SP-BSP alliance. Overall, you all may know that the political Brahmashtr is very important for the BJP because SP-BSP alliance poses tough challenge to BJP in Kairana, Noorpur polls. Also,   they are trying to get more attention of voters and it could be beneficial for OBC category.

As per the reports, Rajbhar said the 27% quota will be divided into three categories: pichhada (backward) with four castes, ati pichhada (very backward) with 19 castes, and sarvadhik pichhada (most backward) with 59 castes. If implemented, the categorization can pose a serious challenge to the dominance of Yadavs, SP’s core support base, both politically and within the OBC quota.

As you all may know that Yadavs are seen as among the biggest beneficiaries of the OBC empowerment and quotas. Also, you all may know that this envy worked to the advantage of BJP in the 2014 LS polls as well as the 2017 assembly elections and the party is expecting much more benefits from it in upcoming days or months.  Reservation not on caste basis but on economical condition will help erase poverty.
