Breaking News! Pathankot on Terror Alert, after suspicious call from Pakistan

Punjab Police tights the security after a terror alert has been sounded in border districts of Gurdaspur and Pathankot. The security agencies intercepted a call from Pakistan suggesting the movement of some suspects in the area.

On Saturday, the Punjab Police said that Security has increased in Gurdaspur and Pathankot especially Batala town with police along with BSF and Indian Army conducting massive checking and search operation.

On the intervening night of 1st-2nd January 2016, terrorists who had crossed the border had attacked Pathankot Airbase, while on 27th July last year Dinanagar in Gurdaspur was targeted.

The police said that on Friday evening, security agencies intercepted a call from Pakistan in which callers were heard saying about the movement of suspects in a truck to Dina Nagar in Gurdaspur or Pathankot.

Punjab police conducted massive search operations late last night comprising 400 security people including BSF personnel and Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) after receiving the input.

On Saturday, a police officer posted in Gurdaspur said that we are not taking any chances. Security has been tightened in the border areas of Pathankot, Batal, and Gurdaspur.

Vehicles going towards and coming from Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh are being checked thoroughly.

Police said that Special ‘nakas’ were put up at entry points and other areas in Gurdaspur and Pathankot by police with the assistance of BSF personnel.

Police said that a tight vigil is being kept near Indo-Pak borders areas.

The Pathankot attack had claimed the lives of 7 security personnel while 4 terrorists were killed.

Three heavily-armed terrorists wearing army fatigues, had stormed a police station in Dinanagar town in Gurdaspur district last year killing 7 persons, including a Superintendent of Police before they were gunned down during a day-long operation.
