To face the threat from Reliance Jio, state-run telecom firm BSNL today slashed 3G internet rates by about three-fourths, bringing down the cost of per GB data to as low as Rs 36 in a special pack.
In Rs 291 plan, a customer will get “4 times more” data at 8GB with a validity of 28 days against 2 GB earlier. The Rs 78 plan will offer double data at 2 GB. BSNL has also decided to offer extra data on existing data STV (special tariff vouchers) available in the market,” BSNL said in a statement.
Reliance Jio is offering free 4G services until 31st March 2017, in which all its customers are getting 1 GB of 4G mobile broadband free everyday and after consuming 1GB, the speed gets reduced.Other private operators lowest the cost of per GB data to Rs 50. BSNL is now offering data at the rate of Rs 36 per GB which is one of the lowest in the market as compared to other companies,” BSNL Board Director said in an interview.
Jio has become the largest broadband service provider in the country within 3 months of its launch and It has around 52 million broadband customers.
These offers will be valid from Feb 6, 2017, RK Mittal in an interview said.”We are providing cheap mobile services for all segments of the prepaid customers. BSNL, therefore, continues to dominate the broadband market in fixed line services with 9 million customers and now ranks 5th in mobile broadband space with 20 million subscribers.
