A piece of big breaking news is coming from Maharashtra. An FIR has been registered against Anil Deshmukh on 24th April 2021, that is, on Saturday. Anil served as the former home minister of Maharashtra from 2019 to 2021 and is also a member of the Congress Party. Earlier, he was called by the CBI for further interrogation on 14th April 2021 over the charges of corruption, after the ex-police commissioner of Mumbai, Param Bir Singh accused Anil Deshmukh regarding the same. The FIR has been lodged under the 120 B and Prevention of Corruption Act. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also broken into the various property of Mr Deshumukh including his place as well as at other three more sites in Mumbai in relation to the case.
On 14th April 2021 Param Bir Singh wrote a letter to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and in which he mentioned that Deshmukh along with his assistant used to rack up money from hotels, restaurants and bars. In that letter, the name of Police officer Sachin Vaze was also mentioned who is now suspended and detained under police custody in relation to the security threat investigation of Mukesh Ambani. Vaze is accused of collecting Rs. 100 Crore every month from the previously mentioned sources.
CBI also interrogated the two PAs of Anil Deshmukh, Kundan Shinde and Sanjeev Palande and in addition to that, the two drivers of Sachin Vaze are also inquired regarding the same and several other bar owners and Mumbai policemen who are involved in the case were also interrogated by the CBI. The case of Anil Deshmukh was handed over to the CBI by the Mumbai High Court on 5th April 2021 and the court also ordered to do an initial investigation into the above case within a time span of 15 days.
While on 8th April 2021, Supreme Court also stated that the case of Anil Deshmukh is quite consequential and therefore strict examination must be done by the respective agency. Further investigation is still going on and police are conducting several searches at various places. The charges and allegation on the former home minister of Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh and many other powerful and influential people are also involved. CBI is also closely monitoring, inspecting and scrutinizing all the shreds of evidence and proofs. Supreme Court has also ordered the CBI to hold individual investigation for each person who is involved in the above case. We will keep you updated, till then, stay tuned with us.
