CBSE Board 2021: Class 10 Board Exam Cancelled, Class 12 Exam Postponed Check Full Reason

In a new announcement by the Education Ministry of India, the CBSE Class 10th Board examination has been cancelled due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in the country. Before making the announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the officials regarding the approaching CBSE Board exam. After having a thoughtful discussion, the decision to cancelling the CBSE Class 10th Board exam was made.

Now, the CBSE class 10th students will not take part in the board exams, instead, their marks will be evaluated based on ‘objective criterion’ that will be established by the Central Board of Secondary Education. In a press release on Tuesday, the Ministry said the Class 10 Board results are going to be arranged “on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board.”

Also, if any of candidate or student is not satisfied with the total marks obtained, then he/she are free to appear in the written exam which will be conducted later on when the coronavirus situation will be under control in the country.

Other than the 10th Board examination, the upsurge in the coronavirus cases and its spread has also affected Class 12 exam as well. The CBSE Class 12th Board examination which was earlier scheduled to get started from May 4 to June 14 is now have been postponed. The announcement of the same was made by Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in his recent tweet. He also stated that the on-going situation will be reviewed on June 1 after which the decision will be made. They will also revise the date sheet and will release the new one soon after that. In addition to that, he said that the students will be announced about the new exam dates 15 days prior to the exam.

Among many other political leaders, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal along with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had recently urged the centre for the cancellation of the exams in order to avert millions of students from getting infected from coronavirus.

On Tuesday, CM Arvind Kejriwal pointed out his concern for conducting boards exams. He said that in Delhi itself there will be around 6 lakh students who will appear for the board exam and around 1 lakh teachers who will be on duty for the same. This will give a wide exposure of students and the teachers being getting infected from the virus. He advised at the end that the board exams should be cancelled for the safety of children.

Other than the political leaders, many concerned parents and students have requested the government to not conduct the exam. There were more than lakh students who have signed the petitions that were advising the government to cancel the board exams or else to conduct it through online mode.
