Chile defeated Colombia in shootout to reach 2019 Copa America Semi-Finals

Defending Champion Chile, have made a remarkable win against Colombia on Friday, and therefore made their way to semi-finals of 2019 Copa America. Chile made this win possible after beating Colombia 5-4 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in Sao Paulo. They ended their quarter-final match against Colombia scoreless and reached to the semi-finals. Copa America Live Streaming

The 2019 Copa America made its entry on June 14 and the tournament will go on for three weeks up till the final which on 7 July 2019. The 2019 Copa América is the 46th edition of the tournament and is hosted Brazil this year.

The defending champions this year are Chile. Chile is already the two-time defending champions and has won the 2015 and 2016 editions of the tournament. The group stage of Copa America 2019 was started on June 14 and was concluded on June 24.

The Quarter-finals of the tournament started on June 27 and will end on June 29. Till now, the teams who made their entry to semi-finals are Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Alexis Sanchez was the one whose last kick in the penalty round lead the team to win after the William Tesillo from Colombia has missed his last penalty goal. With their last miss of the penalty goal, Colombia lost their chance to reach to the semi-finals of 2019 Copa America.  Alexis Sanchez on the Chile’s side was able to pulled out the last kick on spot.

Chile’s Charles Aranguiz said, “I think we had opportunities [during the game],”

He further added, “We didn’t take them and we had to do it on penalties.

“Our team is confident when it comes to penalties, we have won two finals on penalties. So that gives us energy.”

Well, Chile is enjoying the win but they also know that they have to regain their title which they can get close to after winning their semi-final round on July 3rd at Arena do Grêmio, Porto Alegreagainst the Winners Match 22.

In the meantime, Uruguay vs Peru match which is also Match 22 will be held today on 29 June 2019 at Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador. This the only match that is going to decide that who among these two teams in Quarter-Finals is going to compete against Chile on semi-final round.

Vidal also said, “It’s difficult because you’re going at 100 miles an hour and then they annul two goals,”

He further added, “But we kept our heads and won it on the penalties. We deserved it.”
