On Thursday, China obstructed a new move to entitle Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as an international terrorist at the UN Security Council, letting a most important joint irritant with India to fester.

A proclamation issued by the external affairs ministry in New Delhi conveyed “disappointment” at the UN’s Islamic State and al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee being incapable to come to a conclusion on the change to sanction Azhar “on account of a member placing the proposal on hold”.
The declaration did not name the Security Council associate accountable for the conclusion in vision of the official procedures followed for the functioning of the Sanctions Committee, people acquainted with growths established China was behind the “technical hold” on the registering of Azhar.

The statement said, “This is has prevented action by the international community to designate the leader of JeM, a proscribed and active terrorist organisation which has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 14 February 2019”.

India conveyed its appreciation towards associates of the UN Security Council who stimulated the newest suggestion for Azhar’s listing and the “unprecedented number of all other Security Council members as well as non-members who joined as co-sponsors”.
The statement further added, “We will continue to pursue all available avenues to ensure that terrorist leaders who are involved in heinous attacks on our citizens are brought to justice.”
The latest step to entitle Azhar an international terrorist was made by France with the support of the US and Britain in the wake up call of the Pulwama suicide bombing killing 40 CPRF personnel and the attack was claimed by JeM terror group.
This is not the first time but it is considered to be the fourth time that Beijing obstructed the move at the UN Sanctions Committee, a conclusion that revealed its snug political connections with “iron brother” Pakistan.
Pakistan has been under rising global pressure to snap down on terror groups which also comprises of JeM which is functioning from its soil. The Pulwama attack headed to the utmost severe escalation in the middle of India and Pakistan in years, with India leading an air strike on a JeM camp inside Pakistan that was trailed by an aerial arrangement along the Line of Control.
Beijing’s latest hindering of the effort to list Azhar, increase question about the specious upturn in associations with New Delhi after last year’s informal meeting amongst Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping at Wuhan.
