Reviewing the measures and preparation to tackle the spread of coronavirus on Thursday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel directed that schools and colleges in the state will remain closed till March 31. After returning from New Delhi, Baghel held a meeting at his residence where a decision was taken to close all the schools and colleges till March 31 in line with the Centre’s advisory.

However, according to the official statements from the state’s School Education and Higher Education departments, the schools, and colleges where examinations are underway, have been allowed to remain open. Baghel has also directed the Health Department to keep a close eye on the situation and take appropriate actions to prevent the spread of the virus in the state.
Additionally, the Chief Minister has also directed the administration to raise awareness about coronavirus and advertise the advisory issued by the health ministry.
Several state ministers and government officials were present in the meeting, which comes after at least 73 people were tested positive for coronavirus in India.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand government has also announced on Thursday that the schools will remain closed until 31st March 2020 as a precautionary measure against the outbreak of novel coronavirus in the country. The news about the closure of schools in Uttarakhand state was confirmed by Uttarakhand School Education Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram.
She issued a formal statement that said “All schools, including pre-primary, primary, secondary, high school and intermediate, in the state to remain closed until March 31, 2020, in the view of coronavirus pandemic.” However, she said that board exams will continue in the state as per the date sheet announced earlier and schools, where exams are to be held, will be allowed to stay open only during the exam period.
