While people are already going through a lot of panic and fear in their minds around the world, some people are spreading some conspiracy theories in United Kingdom that have started targeting 5G networks across the nation.

According to the BBC reports, there are several cellular towers in Birmingham, Liverpool as well as Melling in Merseyside that have been set on fire, over the last few days, in order to stop the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.

In addition to that, the report further adds a video, apparently of an event in Aigburth, which was also shared on YouTube as well as Facebook. According to the video, it claimed a link amid the next-gen 5G technology and the existing Covid-19 outbreak.

The apparently absurd situation is frightening the people more and making an ugly turn. Because of this, it has put pressure and even forced the hand of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport of UK, leading the department to made to Twitter in order to explain that “there is completely no credible proof of a link between 5G and coronavirus.”

The event even provoked a response from the government of UK, where Cabinet Office minister, Michael Gove, called such kinds of rumours as “dangerous nonsense”. He then further went on to add that these kinds of conspiracy theories which are linked with 5G with Covid-19 were “just nonsense, dangerous nonsense as well.”

With the increasing number of cases in the world with coronavirus positive patients, the rumours on the other hand is also spreading day by day and there are many such kind of conspiracy theories that are floating on the web, with some even accusing the Russians for the spread. Out of these conspiracy theories and rumours, the most popular ones revolve around claims that coronavirus that has been originated in Wuhan is when the country began to roll-out 5G in the city. Some other theory claims that the virus destroys the immune system, and uses the radio waves network in order to communicate as well as to pick the victims.

In the meantime, the Merseyside Police have also said that an investigation is under way after the telecommunications box in Aigburth has being caught fire on Friday.
