The government in West Bengal has made it clear that the sensitive zones of the state, which have seen the maximum number of Covid-19 cases, is going to see severer standards as well as have advised people to follow them.
West Bengal’s ‘high-risk’ Covid-19 zones report
Total three districts such as Howrah, North 24 Parganas, Kolkata are mainly the red zones districts located in the West Bengal. There are a number of potential red zones as well which also consist of Nadia.
Within these coronavirus red zones districts, the state government has acknowledged clusters or ‘microspots’, where tougher lockdown rules is going to be followed.
For example, Salkia in Howrah has been also recognized as a microspot. The complete area from ward number 1 to 6 in Salkia is going to have limited access for outsiders; only those bringing vital goods will be permitted, but only throughout a certain hour.
Traffic-wise, only those which are transporting essential services will not be restricted. They also need to have basic records along with valid permission for stepping out.
Similar to Salkia in Howrah, there are scattered microspots in North 24 Parganas, North Kolkata as well as Nadia.
All the districts which have been classified red zones in the West Bengal, is going to continue the lockdown till April 30.
Recently on April 17, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also addressed the matter throughout a press conference as well as set a target of 14 days for transforming Howrah from red to orange Zone.
The extended lockdown on the other hand, has come as a bad shock for shopkeepers in the affected areas of West Bengal. They are not able to get any supplies from the farmers as well as the number of customers lining outside their shops is much lower.
In spite of the hardships, customers thank the efforts taken by local administration for making sure the social distancing norms, even in places such as markets.
There are some areas in Haldia city that have been marked as microspots by the state government after Covid-19 positive cases were acknowledged.
By imposing more strict lockdown rules on the people, have made the life for people living in the area quite hard. Police on the other hand, have been asked them to unite and that the government is trying their best for preventing the spread of the deadly virus.
Tanmoy Mukherjee, SDPO, Haldia recently stated “Please cooperate with us. We are in emergency service. Government is trying its best to stop the spread of COVID-19. Essential items will be available for everyone. We can fight against this virus.”
On the other hand, Mukherjee also said that the people in Haldia’s high-risk zones are facing shortage of essential medicines.
The report from Ministry of Health have suggested that West Bengal has total number of 339 cases of Covid-19, out of which 66 cases have been discharged after recovery, while 12 people died after they were tested positive for the deadly virus.
