The Delhi MCD Elections 2017 have been shifted by one day due to the CBSE Class 12th exams on that day. Previously, the MCD election scheduled on 22nd April 2017. But, now the MCD election 2017 schedule on 23rd April 2017.
On Wednesday, the State Election Commissioner S K Srivastava said that the Election Commission postponed elections. He said that the commission tried to conduct the elections on 22nd April only but it would have been difficult to manage it due to Class 12th CBSE examination on the polling day. Now the MCD Election Will be held on 23rd April 2017.
The nomination process will begin from 27th March 2017. The last date for the nomination process would be 3rd April 2017. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on 5th April and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is 8th April 2017.
There are 272 councillors seats in Delhi MCD Election. NDMC and SMDC have 104 seats each, EDMC has 64 seats.
The election commission said that the total number of electorate for the MCD polls 2017 stands at 1,32,10,206, which include 73,15,915 men, 58,93,418 women and 793 voters in the other category.
Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) Class 10 and Class 12 board began on 9th March 2017. A total of 19, 85,397 students from Classes 10 and 12 have registered for the board examination.
