Facebook, Instagram suffered biggest outage ever, went down worldwide for hours

On Wednesday, Facebook suffered its major worldwide outage ever as its main applications comprising Instagram and Messenger went down for about more than 8 hours. Facebook and further applications restarted up again early morning for some users.

At present some people are also having trouble retrieving the Facebook and other related apps but Facebook is working to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

Facebook, by taking twitter as a medium to communicate their concern said, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

Facebook hasn’t revealed yet that what was the matter that caused the outage. The company, on the other hand, did explain that the service break wasn’t due to some targeted cyber attack.

The another tweet from the company said, “We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack”.

DDoS is also known as distributed denial-of-service, attack is when several devices overflow the bandwidth of a targeted system which at end eventually cause it to crash.

As per the downdetector, the outage started around 9:30 pm IST. The live map displays operators in India, US and Europe were rigorously obstructed by the outage. For the duration of this period, application such as Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp was also down for some operators. The outage map put forward that the services take up again in the very next early morning.

As both of the social networking platforms went out of service, the users gathered to Twitter to express their anger and frustration. A number of users said that even though they could access the mobile apps but was not able to the use main functions such as setting a new status or sharing. While on the other hand, some users were not even able to log into their accounts.

The Facebook outage arises soon after Google operators faced comparable outage with its Maps and Drive services. Google well ahead express their regret for the break in the services.

This is not only the first time that the Facebook has experienced such international outage. Last year in the month of November, Facebook was went down for about 40 minutes. The social networking company had then held responsible a test for the break in services. The Wednesday outage, on the other hand, is the major Facebook outage that has been suffered ever.
