FIR Against: AAP Leader Ashish Khaitan Punjab For Hurting Religious Sentiments

On Tuesday, the Punjab police has registered an FIR against Ashish Khaitan who is a Aam Aadmi Party leader for hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs in the state. The AAP Leader Khaitan had reportedly compared the party manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib while he was campaigning for the upcoming Punjab assembly elections, upsetting the religious sentiments of Sikhs.

According to sources, an FIR was registered against AAP leader Ashish Khaitan under Section 295-A(hurting religious sentiments) at the Civil Lines police station in Amritsar, Punjab.

This is the second time that punjab police took the action against AAP Leader in Punjab. The AAP party is being seen as a strong contender against the SAD-BJP alliance in Punjab as AAP party gain momentum in the Punjab state.

Earlier, the Punjab Police summoned AAP MLA Naresh Yadav in the case of sacrilege in Malerkotla in Sangrur district, Punjab. This incident had already flamed up political fued between the two parties in the month of Ramadan.

The AAP  used the image of Golden Temple on the cover page of its manifesto for Punjab Assembly polls. Everybody criticised the AAP Party for doing such disgusting work. On Tuesday, the AAP Party had apologised for this and said that the intention of Party was not hurt to religious sentiments and undermine any section of the society.

On Tuesday, the Deputy CM of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal had attacked AAP for using the image of the Golden Temple on the cover page of its manifesto. The AAP party had also superimposed the party’s election symbol of broom. Badal said on this image that this is the desecration of the holy book and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal should be aplogoised for this.

Badal launched a scathing attack on Kejriwal and said the Delhi chief minister was “mentally sick”.
