Fire Explosion at Firecracker Factory In Tamil Nadu’s Sattur, 11 Died & 36 Injured

At least 11 people have lost their lives in the explosion at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu’s Sattur district. Many people have got injured in the incident on Friday. As per the sources, over 36 people are injured during the explosion. it was a private factory in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar which is around 500 KM away from Chennai.

Our Nation’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the explosion or blast. The PM Modi said,” Fire at a firecracker factory in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu is saddening. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope those injured recovers soon. Authorities are working on the ground to assist those affected”.

The incident happened around 1:30 PM today when the staff of the factory was mixing some explosive chemicals to make fireworks. In just a while, over 10 fire-fighting units from various locations rushed to the incident spot and try to douse the fire of the factory, a report spread by the PTI agency. As per the firefighter, it was hard to extinguish the chemical at the site.

PM Narendra Modi showed his sorrow over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the family members who lost their lives in the incident from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) and those are injured, Government will give Rs. 50,000 to their family members. PM Modi said.

Along with Prime Minister, Tamilnadu CM Edapadi J Palaniswami announced the Rs. 3 Lakh as an ex-gratia to the family members of 11 people who lost their lives in the explosion at the factory and Rs. 1 lakh announced for the family members who are injured.

The Superintendent of Police P Perumal and District collector R Kannan reached the spot and started the inquiry. Also, the team of PESO visited the incident place and trying to find the cause of the accident.
