The first phase of Assam assembly elections witness with more than 70% voting record in the state till 7 PM. Trinmool Congress is facing a tough competition in the state from the ruling Congress coalition with the Left and the BJP-AGP-BPF alliance.
The ruling Congress, the BJP-AGP-BPF alliance and the AIUDF set the stage a ground of immense political battle in the state.
First phase of Assam Assembly Elections Polling Live Update
In the first phase of Assam assembly polls to be held in 65 of the 126 constituencies and it will decide the faith of 539 candidates.
The Election Commission and the state government has made a tight security in the state to avoid any mishappening as the state is affected by many rebel groups.
In this phase, an electorate of 95,11,732 people including 45,95,712 women, will exercise their voting rights in 12,190 polling stations with the number of hyper-sensitive and sensitive booths yet to be released by the election office here.
Security is especially maintained tightened across the state with the Indo-Bangla border along Barak Valley’s Karimganj district sealed and more than 40,000 security personnel deployed in the 65 constituencies spread across Upper Assam, hill districts, northern banks and Barak Valley.
More than 48,000 polling workers have been deployed in the first phase with those in remote areas leaving for their respective polling booths since Friday evening.
In the first phase, there is a direct battle between the ruling Congress and the BJP-AGP-BFP coalition alliance. AIUDF has put its candidates in 27 constituencies where the fight will be triangular.
However, the congress is contesting in all the 65 constituencies in this phase while BJP is fighting the direct battle in 54 constiencies along with the alliance of AGP in 11 and BPF in 3 constituencies.
Among the 539 candidates in the fighting battle, 496 are males and 43 females in 45 constituencies of the Brahmaputra Valley, 5 in the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao and 15 in the Barak Valley.
The campaigning for the state assembly polls in Assam was marked by polular and national leaders like PM Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-president Rahul Gandi and the Chief Minister leading the campaign battle.
However, it will be very interesting fight in the coming phases too and we simply need to wait for the final result.
