Live Updates: Free Fire India Today League Highlights, 12 Finalists in the Finale

The Free Fire India Today Finale League is today and is being played out on October 12 in the national capital. There are total of 12 teams that are going to battle it out for the top spot.

The winner of Saturday’s Free Fire India Today League final is going to win a whopping amount of Rs 8.5 lakh while on the other hand a total prize money of Rs 35 lakh is up for grabs.

The most important thing about the event is that, the winning team is going to represent India in a global tournament called the Free Fire World Series that is scheduled to be held in the month of November in Brazil.

 

The 12 finalists are:

Out of thousands of teams, there were 12 teams that were selected after 15 days of strenuous qualifiers.

Kingz God, No Mercy, Team Mossaad, Namooney, Nawabzade, Nightmare, Punisher YT, Royal Beast, Hawk’s Gaming, Team WAG, Thugz of India and Valerian.

Free Fire Finale League Highlights

The finals started at the Siri Fort Auditorium from 10:30 AM onwards. The winner of the Free Fire India Today League is going to take Rs 8.5 lakh to their home, on the other hand the second, third and fourth place teams are going to win Rs 4 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, individually. Players of all 12 teams are going to be given mobile phones. All the teams travelling to New Delhi for the Group Finals are also going to receive travel allowance.

Ms. Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson of India Today Group shared her excitement in the lead up to the grand finale in New Delhi, she said, “India Today Group has always stayed ahead of the curve with what excites our audience. And e-sports is the newest way, our audience is interacting with each other and the world.

She added, “We are delighted to partner with a premium game and bring the league to India. We look forward to supporting our team in Brazil for the global league, later in the year.”

Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson, India Today Group said in her inaugural speech, “Free Fire India Today League is launching our new banner under India Today Gaming. I am so excited not only because we are starting something new but also because we are the super partner in Garena. Free Fire is the third most-downloaded mobile game and the most-downloaded Battle Royale in the world.”

She added, “We estimated 20000 registrations for this event, and we got a staggering 1.2 lakh registrations. Then 6000 squads were formed and they competed for just 12 spots in the main tournament. The prize pool today is USD 50,000 and the winning team is off to Brazil for the Free Fire World Series.”

Team Namooney take the lead

Sports Minister Rijiju said it was his dream to see India to develop into a global sporting super-house. He said, “An unfit nation cannot become a sporting powerhouse. We have to make people understand that sports is a way of life. Sports defines a country’s image. Nothing is bigger than the Olympics or any sporting event.. be it a World Cup or any tournament.”

He also added, “I am very excited and delighted to be here this morning with Purie saab and the entire team. I was having a briefing about Esports and how this Free Fire game is going to be. Anything which starts in India and which happens here has to be big.”
