Gau rakshaks allegedly thrashed 2 Dalits for skinning dead cow in Andhra Pradesh

On Tuesday, police said that a mob of gau rakshaks allegedly beat up two Dalits in East Godavari district when they skinned a cow which had died due to electrocution.

According to a report that the both Dalit were brothers. Both of them were tied to a tree, stripped off their clothes and then beaten brutally.

This incident took place at Janakipeta in Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh.

According to the source of police officer that When the cow died following electrocution, the owner of cow, a farmer engaged the two Dalits for skinning the cow before it was buried.

The police said that On getting the information of the skinning of cow, the cow vigilantes went to that place and beat up the duo, The dalits duo was identified as Lazer and Mokati Elisha, suspecting that they had killed the animal.

The two were admitted to a hospital in serious condition in Amalapuram for treatment. The condition of Elisha was serious.

A police officer said that the police have registered a case under SCs/STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against some persons. We are investigating the case and gathering the information about the suspects.

Three days ago, In his first public denouncement of cow vigilantes PM Modi had said that he felt enraged at such anti-social elements, who indulged in crimes by the night and masqueraded as cow protectors by the day.

In a rally in Telangana, PM Modi had asked people to beware of fake cow protectors as they were trying to create conflict and tension in the society. PM Modi said that if you have to attack, attack me but stop attacking my Dalit bretheren.
