The Government of India has asked Union Territories and states to avoid the use of the Indian National Flag made of plastic.
In an advisory issued to the Central Government department, Union Territories administration and state governments, the Home Ministry asked them to ensure strict obedience of the provisions of the Flag Code and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.
Whoever destroys, disfigures, defiles, tramples upon, defaces or otherwise shows disrespect to or brings into contempt the Indian National Flag is liable for punishment with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine, or with both.
After a day of I-Day celebration, we can easily see the plastics made National flags everywhere on roads, footpath etc., it is our responsibility to respect our National Flag and do not throw it anywhere. We feel shame when we see the National flag on the roads. In this way, we are dishonouring or disrespecting our National Flag.
