On Tuesday, the Central government circulated the draft of GST Bill among the Rajya Sabha members, which would take up the discussion on the reform legislation today.
The Central government has accepted the two key demands of the Congress in the draft Bill circulated among the Rajya Sabha members.
The business advisory committee of the Rajya Sabha had fixed five and a half hours for discussions on GST bill.
Anand Sharma who is Deputy leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha told reporters that the GST Bill draft indorsed the position of party on key issues. Sharma claimed that the Congress party was the original author of the GST Bill.
On Tuesday, Vice-president of Congress party Rahul Gandhi met the party leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Mr Sharma and former finance minister P. Chidam-baram among others and discussed various points regarding the GST Bill.
Ananth Kumar who is parliamentary affairs minister told reporters that on Wednesday, we would list the GST Bill for consideration in the Rajya Sabha.
Kumar also said that we have talked to all parties and PM Narendra Modi had said at the beginning of this session that GST is in the interest of all. We hope the GST Bill will be passed with consensus
