The legendary Indian actor Guru Dutt’s cult classic “Pyaasa” is to premier in 72nd Venice Film Festival. It is a proud and a major moment for the Indian film industry aka Bollywood. The Ultra Media & Entertainment presented the “Pyaasa”, which is an ageless Indian cult classic of 1957 featuring the legendary actors Guru Dutt, Waheeda Rehman & Mala Sinha in the lead role.
Guru Dutt’s “Pyaasa” To Premiere In 72nd Venice Film Festival
“Pyaasa” is the only Indian film selected by the Venice Film Festival Organizer to premiere in very prestigious Venice Film Festival. The cinema has been chosen for the “Venice Classics” section category at the upcoming Venice Film Festival for this September.
The total original quality of the film will be premier for the global audience. The film “Pyaasa” will be screened on 11th September 2015 at 2pm and 12th September, 2015 at 9am in “Sala Volpi” auditorium at Venice Film Festival.
As per reports, regarding the premier of the “1957 black & white cult classic” in very prestigious Venice film festival the CEO of the Ultra Media & Entertainment PVT. Ltd Shushilkumar Agarwall speaks to media and says, “Pyaasa” will now compete with 20 other restored classic movies from all over the world for the prestigious ‘Venice Classics Award’ for Best Restored Film, said Ultra Media & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.’
“Ultra Media & Entertainment, who are the negative rights owners of ‘Pyaasaa’, have restored this film completely for the grand occasion with an objective of preserving and presenting it in its original quality to the global audience. It is one of the rarest gems of Indian cinema”, Agrawal added further.
The tragic melodrama “Pyaasa” has been produced and directed by the leading man himself aka late Guru Dutt, which is a beautiful tale of an unemployed young man who tried to carve a niche for himself by his poetry. In short he wants to be a poet but rejected by everybody including his family. Rest of the story is how he will deals with it.
The legendary musician S.D.Burman scored music of the film which was turn out to be a masterpiece. The classic singers including, Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt and Hemant Kumar croon their voice for the S.D.Burman’s magnum opus movie “Pyaasa” song album.
Some of its haunting numbers are: “Yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai,’ “Jaane kya tune kahi” and “Jaane wo kaise log the…’ Still people remembering it and music lovers are loving it!!!
Besides “Pyaasa”, the company has restored some other Bollywood classics like “Dil Tera Deewana”, “Chori Chori”, “Half Ticket”, “Paigham” and “Insaniyat”.
