The Haryana government, on Friday, directed all private schools in the state not to pressurize the parents of the students to deposit fees until the lockdown period is over, thus banning all types of fees collection with immediate effect. According to Manohar Lal Khattar, the lockdown is a zero period and hence no school fee should be collected.
Haryana private schools to not collect fees during lockdown
The tweet shared by Chief Minister Office Haryana reads, “The Haryana government has instructed all private schools located in the state not to pressurize the parents of the students to deposit fees in view of the lockdown, fees should be taken only when the situation is normal. At present, all types of fees have been banned with immediate effect.”
An official spokesperson for the Haryana School Education Department said that it has come to the department’s notice that some private schools are pressurizing the parents to deposit the fees immediately and thus the department has directed all the private schools in this regard.
The spokesperson further added, “The Department has directed all the District Education Officers and District Primary Education Officers of the state to make the private schools in their areas aware of the directions of the state government.”
Adding further he also said that all the District Education Officers have been tasked by the Department to make sure that the orders of the government are firmly adhered to.
Prime Minister Modi has imposed a nationwide lockdown till April 14, 2020, and thus all the schools in Haryana are also closed down due to the COVID-19 outbreak till further orders. The Board examinations have also been cancelled and university exams have been postponed.
Meanwhile, India has recorded 3796 positive cases out of which 294 have recovered and 104 have lost their lives, while Haryana has 84 COVID- 19 positive cases out which 29 have recovered.
