The final trial of Talgo train at the Delhi – Mumbai train route will be conducted today. The trial will be conducted to determine if the Spanish Talgo train can slash the journey between Delhi and Mumbai by four hours, delivering passengers at just under 12 hours to their destination
While running at 150 km/hr in its final trial, the Spanish Talgo train will leave from New Delhi Railway station at 2:45 p.m. and is scheduled to reach Mumbai at 2.29 a.m. early morning next day.
9 super light-weight coaches manufactured by Spanish firm Talgo were imported from Spain to Mumbai in the month of April 2016. The Talgo train can hit 200 km per hour.
In its third trial, the Talgo train reached Mumbai today 18 minutes late.Travelling 1,384 km stretch between New Delhi and Mumbai, the train at 140 km per hour speed reached 3.15 a.m. instead of scheduled arrival at 2.57 a.m.
The Indian Railways had conducted the first trial run of Spanish Talgo trains on the Bareilly-Moradabad railway route in Uttar Pradesh state . The second trial run was conducted on the Palwal-Mathura railway route of the North-Central Railway.
