Hiranandani Hospital CEO & 4 Other Doctors Sent To Judicial Custody Till August 26

On Saturday, the Mumbai sessions court sent five doctors including the CEO of L H Hiranandani Hospital in connection with kidney transplant racket.

The name of the accused doctors are Dr Sujit Chattarjee (CEO), Dr Prakash Shetty, Dr Mukesh Shah, Medical Director Dr Mukesh Shete, and Dr Anurag Naik.

The kidney transplant racket came to light when the police were tipped off that a kidney transplant operation had been scheduled on 14 July at the private L H Hiranandani Hospital where donor and recipient were not related. They were fake

The operation on Brijkishor Jaiswal who was the recipient of the kidney, was stopped by the police. Because the police found that the woman who was donating him the kidney was not his wife, contrary to the papers submitted by the duo.

According to the police that the woman had professed to be his wife, only to be able to donate the kidney to Brijkishor Jaiswal.

After this the police started probing the case if anybody else had received kidney using similar fraud and if the hospital authorities were involved in this racket.

On Wednesday, the accused were produced for remand at Andheri Court.

The police said that The accused doctors of L H Hiranandani Hospital were charged under Section 12 and 21 of The Transplantation of Human Organ Act, 1994.
