The LB Nagar Special Operations Team busted an illegal sand filtering unit at the dumping yard in Kummakunta of Nedunur village and arrested 15 persons here on Friday. The arrested persons were Kishan, Sudhakar Reddy, V Ravi, V Krishna, Ch Mallesh, P Naresh, K Hari, M Mallesh, K Shiva, A Mallesh, M Parvathalu, M Nagesh, M Redya, J Pandu and M Yadaiah. All were labourers and truck drivers from Kandukur, Maheshwaram, Mankhal, Kadthal, Mahabubnagar, and Balapur.

The offenders were filtering sand from soil taken from the village outskirts. Police seized four trucks, of which three were loaded with sand, an earthmover, a tractor, a motorcycle and 10 mobile phones from them.
According to the officials, the gang took sand from Kandukur area and sold it to realtors. The investigation is underway to get details on their transactions and dealings. The arrested persons and seized material were handed over to the Kandukur police for further investigation.
