Indian Cricketer – Mahendra Singh Dhoni has alleged before Delhi High Court that Maxx Mobilink Pvt Ltd is still using his name as their brand ambassador despite termination of the contract.
The Delhi High Court pulled up the top official of the company after taking note of the plea of MS Dhoni that its orders have been defied by the firm.
Justice Manmohan said that why are you (Maxx) not complying with the order? You have to follow the direction of the court… both parties are directed to comply with the order dated 21st April 2016 before the next date of hearing that is July 28.
The Delhi High Court was hearing a petition filed by Indian Cricketer – M S Dhoni seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against the CMD of the company – Ajjay Agarwal for defying its 17th November 2014 direction asking Maxx Mobilink to refrain from selling any products which use the name of the cricketer in commercials.
The court had also passed a similar order on 21st April 2016 asking Agarwal to inform about the steps taken to comply with the 2014 direction asking the firm to refrain from selling any product, claiming to be endorsed by Dhoni. M S Dhoni had an endorsement agreement with the Maxx company which had expired in the month of December 2012.
The Delhi high court had asked Maxx to give details of the steps taken by it to remove the name of MS Dhoni and photograph from its social media sites including its website and Facebook.
In his contempt plea, The Indian cricketer M S Dhoni has also sought a direction to seize all the products/mobile handsets and such other articles where his name and image is being used to sell and promote these products.
