Earlier, the weightlifter participated in the 2020 event of the same championship. In that event, she won a silver medal and previously elevated a total of 162 kgs weights, 72 kg in the first round, while she lifted 91 kgs in the second round in the 2019 event. At that time too, the daughter of India, made all of us proud. After the winning of the 2019 event, the weightlifter worked harder for the upcoming event 2021. In the first round, Dalabehera lifted 69kg weights while in the second round she lifted 88kg weights.

Her performance at the event was absolutely spectacular. In total, she lifted a weight of 157kg. Though it was not the best of Dalabehera, she still won the title of the 2021 Asian championship. While Jhili Dalabehera stood at the first position, Mary Flor Diaz from the Philippines won the silver medal. Dalabehera is extremely overwhelmed and she is very much happy to won the gold medal. She has been doing the preparation for this event for a long time and has gone through tough training.

After winning the silver medal in the 2019 event, Dalabehera was determined to win the gold medal in the upcoming Asian Championship 2021 and for that, she put all her dedication and gone through an extensive training session and not a single day, she skipped this routine. The young weightlifter’s gold will be the second medal of India in the tournament, as before her, Mirabai Chanu hit the bullseye and won the bronze medal in the same tournament on 17th April 2021, that is, on Saturday.

Chanu has lifted a total of 205kg, which was her personal best. This totally proofs, that if girls are given proper guidance and facility, they can shine and rise in any field. All they need is encouragement and support from their family, society and from the government. Indian people do not lack talents and in fact, you will find talent in every street of India, it is just that sometimes these talented people remain unnoticed as they are neglected by their family and the society and sometimes the lack of proper training and facility, hinder their growth. We hope more girls like Chanu and Jhilli DAlabehera come forward and showcase their talent and make India proud.
