Internet hijacked for almost 2 hours; Google services affected

You all may have seen that today the Google services were affected for more than 2 hours. Yes! You are reading it right an Internet traffic diversion that re-routed data through Russia and China disrupted Google services on Monday. Some sources are indicating that the Search engine, Cloud-hosting services, and its bundle of collaboration tools for businesses were affected by affection.  Some of you may know that the services are back again.

We think that the service was interrupted by lasted for nearly two hours and ended about 5:30 pm EST (4:00 am IST). Some of you all may know that a Russian and Chinese telecommunications company along with Nigerian internet provider was also involved. You all should know that Google services were affected and the whole things are affected because of this problem. Overall, the whole service is back.

Reports are coming that the diversion “at a minimum caused a massive denial of service to G Suite (business collaboration tools) and Google Search” and “put valuable Google traffic in the hands of ISPs in (internet service providers) in countries with a long history of Internet surveillance”. Some reports are coming that Google has said “access to some Google services was impacted” and said the cause was “external to Google”. Some reports are coming that the type of traffic misdirection employed, known as border gateway protocol hijacking.

You all should know that knock essential services offline and facilitate espionage and financial theft. It can result either from misconfiguration — human error, essentially— or from a malicious action. Some sources are indicating that the most network traffic to Google services 94% as of October 27 is encrypted, which shields it from prying eyes even if diverted.
